P009 → Experimental
IN MY STREET
In my street is an experimental short film shot on Bolex camera.
The main character's life mirrors the texture of the film: filled with noise and blur.
Director and Video editor: Lea Mesplede

AT THE BEGINNING THERE WAS NOTHING
This video explores humanity as a sentient organism, trapped within its own evolution.
To better understand the potential end of our species, I chose to depict the creation of our world through the lens of the human body.

INVISIBLE CONNECTION
“Metals are actants, that, when in the right confederation with other physical and psychological bodies, can make big things happen” - Jane Bennett, Vibrant Matter: A Political Ecology of Things, Laurene Pilastre, a plastic artist experiments with mobile, while encountering quantum physics principles of entanglement, paradoxes, and Karen Barad’s concept of intra-action. She plays with air as a singular material, connecting all things.
"What exists beyond the boundaries we forgot we artificially invented? How can we unsee?
Lights and shadows allow us to go beyond our fixed prejudices of what is and exists in a rigid reality. Shadows link and entangle things together, things that don’t seem to touch or be in contact. Allowing a shift of perception in how things can come in relation with one another."
For this project, I record the performance of bittersuiteuk getting in touch with Laurene's mobile and metal.
